Current Practices Keep Significant Risks
“Hanging” Around

Data supports that MRSA, MSSA, VRE and other pathogens can live on polyester privacy drapes for days to months. Neely and Maley of Shriners Hospitals for Children and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine state:

“The length of survival of these organisms on the various materials may have significant infection control implications. For example, the polyester tested in this study is the material used at our hospital for privacy drapes, which are handled by both patients and staff when they are drawn around the patient’s bed. Staphylococci and enterococci survived for days to months on this fabric, therby suggesting that such drapes could act as reservoirs for these bacteria.” 1

The “standard” privacy curtains used by most hospitals are expensive to either clean or replace. These curtains create fall hazards to hospital employees by requiring the use of tools, ladders or make shift step stools to change them out. Risk of debilitating workers comp injuries are significant.

The SaniDrape™ System

SaniDrape™ is flexible and user friendly while
simultaneously working to improve infection control practices. Our privacy curtains are available in disposable or reusable panels. Both types of curtains allow for immediate change outs to reduce patient and staff exposure to MSSA, MRSA, VRE and other pathogens. They also allow accelerated room availability by not having to wait for environmental services.

The new SaniDrape™ multi-piece curtain design allows quick, easy and safe change-outs for any healthcare staff to perform without the use of tools, ladders or makeshift step stools. The SaniDrape™ curtain connection points are easy to reach from the floor. The reusable curtains come in a variety of attractive colors to match your decor. Both the reusable and the disposable curtains are lightweight and durable.

The SaniDrape™ System is a cost effective solution to reduce money and time normally spent on “standard” privacy curtains. The SaniDrape™ curtains adapt to your existing track systems and are simple to install.

"Design allows the flexibility to change out just the panels that are soiled, not the whole curtain as is the current practice.”
Joan Stelling – University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital (UAB)

SaniDrape™ curtains can be used in a wide variety of places throughout the hospital. They are currently being used in: Pre-Op, Post-Op, ICU, Dialysis, ED, Labor and Delivery, semi-private and private rooms and many other areas.
